Na Fianna Men’s Retreat- Sligo Ireland Summer Soltice 19th-22nd June 2025
Awaken the Spirit of the Fianna: A Men’s Retreat in the Heart of Ireland
Step into the wild soul of Ireland and reconnect with the ancient spirit of brotherhood, strength, and purpose. Inspired by an Fian — the legendary warrior-poets, the Fianna, of old — this retreat is a journey back to the core of what it means to be a man in deep connection with nature, tribe, and self.
Set against the rugged beauty of the Irish landscape, you’ll walk the paths once trodden by warriors, engage in grounding rituals, storytelling by firelight, wild swims, and guided challenges that awaken the courage and clarity of the ancient Fian.
This is not a holiday. It’s a homecoming — to yourself, to the land, and to a brotherhood that holds and hones.
Are you ready to answer the call?
Why An Fian?
Rob Ó Cobhthaigh knows Ireland better than most.
In 2015, he sea kayaked around her entire coast, unsupported and solo.
He began running men’s circles in 2017 in Dublin, at that time one of the first men’s group in Ireland, with Darragh Stewart, having previously done initiations with the Mankind Project and rite of passages in the US. Since then, hundreds of men have attended their men’s retreats in Ireland. He co-founded Inwardbound in 2018, with the core vision from the start of reconnecting people to themselves, each other and the natural world.
Over 2 decades working as an outdoor guide, he kayaked many of her rivers, walked many of her mountain ranges, explored many of her most remote and hidden places. He has guided vision quests and rites of passage. From an early age he immersed in himself in Irish mythology and history. For the past decade he has deeply connected to the sacred sites, history and land of Ireland, living for some years at Ros na Rí at Brú na Boinne.
This mens retreat is about reconnecting to positive versions of own ancestral myth and stories of masculinity- a remembering and reconnection.
There was a time when men walked the land with fire in their hearts and earth on their skin — hunters, poets, guardians of silence and song. They were the Fian — bound not by blood, but by courage, clarity, and the call of the wild.
Now, across the veils of time, that call rises again.
Join us in the ancient hills and sacred woods of Ireland — where the wind still whispers old names, and the rivers remember. Over days shaped by challenge, stillness, and story, we will gather as men once did: not to escape life, but to meet it more fully.
Together, we’ll move through ritual and rhythm, through cold waters and warm fires, through the forging of a circle where masks fall and truth rises. This is a remembering. A rewilding. A return.
Come walk the old paths.
Come stand in your own myth.
Come as you are — and leave as who you were always meant to be.

Join us for this initiation into the Fian

Why An Fian Men’s retreat in Ireland?
Ireland has long been known as a special place. In the Maritima Ora, a 4th century AD latin text, Ireland was known as ‘the sacred island, or ‘insula sacra’.
This retreat is for anyone who would like to approach Ireland with respect and humility.
What is sacred? Anything can be sacred when approached with respect, humility and reverence. It is an internal process of reverence, grace and connection that is our shared human birthright.
In Irish mytholology, there are places where it was said that the ‘veil was thin’, liminal, mystical places where time changes from linear time to circular time.
We will be going to such places.
